2. DEFINITION
AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
When the membership of the emergency
assistance is valid, Global Assistance will provide its services based on the
following definition and responsibilities.
24-hour
medical consultation and advice
The coordinator and physician of
Global Assistance are 24 hours on line to provide medical advice and/or assist
the caller in accessing local medical resources.
24-hour
hospital/clinic referral
The coordinator and physician of
Global Assistance are 24 hours on line to direct its member who needs urgent
medical attention to the nearest suitable medical facility for medical care.
Medical
evacuation / repatriation£¨fee-for-service£©
Global Assistance will arrange, based on the authorization and
medical condition, to medically transport its member to a suitable health care facility, or return home, in order to receive
adequate care. The cost of
evacuation/repatriation will be born by the authorizer of the mission.
Emergency message services between patient and patient¡¯s
family, friends or employer
When a member travels alone and is hospitalized based on the medical
condition and the needs, Global Assistance will provide communication services
between patient and patient¡¯s family, friends or the employer.
Patient emergency
message transmission
Global
Assistance will help to transmit patient¡¯s emergency messages to family member
or employer for a member who encounters an unexpected event.
Arrangement
to join a disabled member
If
a member is alone and needs to be hospitalized for a longer time outside
his/her resident place, Global Assistance, based on the request, will assist to
make an arrangement for the family member to visit the patient. The cost of transportation and
accommodation will be born by the family member or patient.
Repatriation
of mortal remains£¨fee-for-service£©
If
the member passes away during a trip, Global Assistance will, based on the
family member or employer¡¯s request, arrange the return of the remains or ashes
to the member¡¯s home. The
cost of the repatriation will be born by the authorizer of the mission.
Legal
referral and advice
When requiring legal assistance, Global
Assistance will direct member to attorney firms for advice or help. Attorney fee will be born by the member.
Coordination
of local legal administrations
When involving in a local
legal dispute, Global Assistance will assist member in coordination with the
employer, local legal organization and police station to deal with the
situation.
Lost travel
document advice
Global Assistance will assist member
in taking the necessary steps to replace passports, tickets, and other
important travel documents should they are found to be lost.
Health insurance advice
At a request, Global Assistance will refer member to insurance
broker or agent for local health insurance.
3. BENEFICIARY OF THE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
SERVICES
Beneficiary
of the emergency assistance services referred in this Member¡¯s Guide of
Emergency Services is the person who joined the membership program and has
become a valid member of Global Assistance¡¯s services.
4. CALL FOR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE SERVICE
1) Global Assistance has a 24 hour
telephone line of 010 - 5166 0199
for emergency assistance services for members who need the services.
2) In any case when assistance is
needed, member may dial directly 010 - 5166
0199 for service. The member needs to identify his/her name, gender,
location, telephone number, membership number and the service he/she requests.
3) The assistance coordinator, upon the
membership verification, provides the needed assistance services.
5. GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF ASSISTANCE SERVICES

services described in this Member¡¯s Guide of Emergency Assistance Services are to

6. LIMITATIONS
1. The member shall expressly
acknowledge and agree that Global Assistance provides assistance services based
on its normal and valid assistance networks. Global Assistance will not be held
responsible for failure to provide or delay services to the request caused by member¡¯s
unusual acts (e.g. venture, performance knowingly acknowledges the involvement
of endanger of safety and threatening of life, etc.) which prohibit the ability
of performance (e.g. unavailable communication and transportation, situation threatening
of the life of assistance personnel, etc.) of Global Assistance from completing
its assistance services.
2. The member shall expressly
acknowledge and agree that assistance services
are supporting services to the state emergency function. In any life
threatening emergency situation, the member shall always remember to contact
directly with the state emergency system (120 emergency center), or through the
coordination of Global Assistance to the state emergency center.
3. Global Assistance will not
be held responsible for failure to provide services or for delays caused by war,
military action, riot and armed rebellion.
4. Global Assistance will not
be held responsible for failure to provide services or for delays caused by
unclear explosion, radiation or contamination.
